A Veterans Day Service of Thanksgiving and Remembrance for all who served our country...“The Poppy Service” Friday, November 11 • 11:00 a.m.

The service begins in the Colonial Chapel at 11:00 a.m. and culminates at the National Veterans Shrine shortly after noon. There will be a moment of silence at 11:11 (the eleventh minute of the 11th hour of the 11th day, of the 11th month), prayers, responsive readings, and hymns. An honor guard of retired military will escort hallowed ground from three overseas battlefields to be enshrined beneath the statue on the plaza in front of the Veterans Shrine. These join more than 30 other soils so enshrined. Members of the public attending the service will have the opportunity to place a poppy and toll a bell in honor of veterans in their family. The American Village will lay a poppy wreath at the National Veterans Shrine in honor of all veterans.
