War of 1812

THE WAR OF 1812 is sometimes called America’s Second War of Independence.  Also, fought with Great Britain and lasting two years, it was essentially a military standoff and forever ended British dreams of retaking its former colonies.  It is often said that this patriotic war was “what made us all Americans” by uniting the people against Britain as opposed to the deep divisions that existed at the time of The Revolution thirty-one years earlier.
