Battle of Hue

Battle of Hue began on January 31, 1968, with a North Vietnamese Army and Viet Cong  attack that overran the city.  U. S. Marines engaged in fierce house-to-house combat to retake the city in which more than 5000 civilians perished and the city was virtually destroyed.  The American victory had cost 216 lives and 1,584 wounded.
