Occupation Forces (Korea)

The Cold War - 1947 - 1991

Occupation forces (Korea) (1954-present) still patrol the southern half of the Korean peninsula up to the demilitarized zone.  It is still a risky and dangerous assignment as American soldiers have been killed each and every year since the close of “official” hostilities in 1954.  Snipers from the North continue to cause the death of many young soldiers.
